Mexico’s Killing Fields

My husband is planning a second honeymoon for us to Mexico?

He wants me to choose where. I’d love to go back to Cuernavaca but I don’t know where to choose. I want us to go somewhere that is close to ancient ruins. The view is amazing from the top of pyramids and my husband has never been…Any suggestions?
I’ve seen the reality…I went Cuernavaca when I was 16 as a service trip…But this time I want to go someplace like Cancun or Acapulco…I just need to know which places are near ruins…

Go to the Mayan, you can see the ruins there. Hotel suggestion for your second honeymoon………try the El Dorado Royale, it’s on Punta Brava Beach, they have Gourmet all inclusive YUM! beach dinners, 24 room service and is soooo romantic. Premium suites are set away from the rest, they are one storey, large, and they fill your suite with flowers, gourmet snacks and wine on your arrival, our jacuzzi was filled with rose petals and bubbles when we arrived……..

My New favourite!!

Lots of things to do on the Yucatan Peninsula, and the ruins are in that area.

Teotihaucan outside of Mexico City is excellent, Monte Alban in Oaxaca, or the Mayan Riviera to see Xcaret and Chichen Itza.

Have You considered The Riviera Maya in Yucatan/Cancun Area? They have amazing pyramids, and "Cenotes" (sorry I don’t know the name in english but it is a big hole in the ground full of water and fishes inside a rock cave, hard to describe but it is beautiful. All that Area is full of things to do/see I’m pretty sure you guys will have lots of fun.

    I hate you… ok I don’t, just jealous.
I haven’t had a real vacation for a long time. Sorry I can’t help with a location because what I like is probably so different than most everybody else.
I went on a trip to mexico many moons ago to the mountains in the state of Hidalgo… It was beautiful and not very touristy. I’d rather see reality than a tourist trap.

Isuggest u Playa del Carmen in the state of Quintana Roo or the city of Oaxaca in the state of the same name. Both are near important archeological sites.

Oaxaca is a colonial city with really good local food u can taste. Playa del Carmen is a lil town near Cancun. I really like both places but i think Playa could b more attractive cause u have beach and ruins in one and it is also near two incredible ecological parks that are Xcaret and Xel Ha.

Theres a 3rd option that is San Cristobal de las Casas in the state of Chiapas, it is also near ruins and near other ecological touristic places like the Montebello Lagoons…..but ive never been there so i cant tell u a lot abt there.

In Oaxaca there is Monte Alban which has a great history. You should also consider a trip to Puerto Escondido while you are there so you can have 2 types of experiences in one vacation.
Puerto Escondido offers great beaches, surfing, fishing and great places to stay including luxury vacation rentals at great prices.
