Mexico’s Killing Fields

What papers do i need to take my dog on vacation to mexico?

I go to mexico on vacation at least once a year. I just got a Siberian Husky puppy a couple months ago and im planning to take me to my yearly vacation.
What papers do i need to go from the U.S. to Mexico and back?

ask your vet if theres any types of extra vaccines your pup needs to go to that part of mexico. Other than that the airlines require the dogs shots to be up to date.

Can a citizen of Mexico obtain a visa with the single purpose of purchasing a car and returning to Mexico?

I am a US citizen, and I am living in Mexico. I have a friend that would like to simply purchase a car in the US and return home, since the prices are much higher in the south of Mexico. Is it possible to get a visa for this purpose?

I am not sure if you can obtain a visa just for that purpose, it is hard for Mexican citizens to get Visas period. Remember the law regarding automobiles bought in the US changed recently.

"In a bid to protect their own market for new and used cars, Mexico has changed their import laws regarding used cars. Effective Monday, March 3rd, only cars that are exactly ten years old, no more, and no less, can be legally imported into the country."

Where is a good place to spend New Years in Mexico?

My boyfriend and I are planning on heading to Mexico after Christmas and over New Years. This will be our first trip to Mexico. Any recommendations of where to go? We are looking for something nice, romantic and easy. Would love it to be inclusive or at least have everything in one place. And in case that isn’t enough, we aren’t looking to spend a ton of money on this… Any thoughts?

What is the best type of Bus Company in Mexico?

I am planning to go to Mexico this December. We plan to take a plane to Guadalajara, then take a bus to Morelia from there. We want to take a luxurious first class bus, though. Does anyone know a great bus company in Guadalajara you could recommend?

There are some 700 bus companies in Mexico. They are so competitive , you cant say which is best. There are Mercedes, Volvo and Mexican (Dina) that are all first class. http://etn.com.mx is reputed to be the best in this case $330mxn
It has been my experience that one can travel for approx. $10.00 usd per 100 miles. It has been that cost more or less since the 70s You will have to take a Taxi to Central de Los Autobuses from the airport and you can expect to pay $15.usd. From there it is 180 miles to Morelia and approximately $24usd per ticket.

Why hasn’t the United States given aid to Mexico to improve their economic and crime situations?

I just don’t get it. Everyone complains about immigration but the US does nothing to help improve living conditions in Mexico so that their citizens don’t have to come here to find safety and work. Most immigrants would happily stay at home with their families if they could make a decent living there. Why hasn’t the US done anything to help them! Maybe they realize that our economy would collapse without the workers who are here getting paid slave wages? All this money is being poured in the Middle East but nothing is being done to help our neighbors. Is it because there is no oil in Mexico?

Because Mexico is corrupt and and their government pockets a lot of what we do give them. Actually, Bush did send them a fat check a while back, which I don’t agree with, because it didn’t go to any good use. I’d rather see that money be spent here to help education costs, etc.

What is a interesting current event taking place in mexico that connects back to early spanish conquest?

In other words, what social issues of today in Mexico could be traced back to the social issues of mexico in the 1500’s. (social organization etc)

thanks

Tough question. What comes to my mind is that the Spanish conquistadores came into a land with a highly developed civilization, completely destroyed that civilization, their government, culture, and religion. They forced the people tp give up their culture, language and religion. They created a country of a few rich land owners and millions of poor people. Mexico just became independent of Spain 200 years ago.and still suffers the "growing pains" of becoming an independent nation and correcting the wrongs of the past. The vast gulf between rich and poor is still present in many ways. The corrupt Napoleonic "justice" system is still used. Political parties and holders of public office are often controlled by the wealthy descendants of the rich land owners of the past.

What do Canadians already in Mexico have to do when the law stating Canadians need a visa to enter mexico star?

Starting this weekend Canadians will need a visa to enter Mexico, but what does that mean for canadians that are already in Mexico, and will be for another two months or so?

You must be mistaken. The new visa requirement applies to Mexicans visiting Canada.
If it were it would only apply as of a specific date and not retroactive, therefore anyone in the country would have until their FMT expired.

Cabochic an FMT is not a VISA. It is as the Americans call it ,a tourist card.
See second link and see that Canada and the U.S.A are not on the list
Canada just imposed a VISA requirement for Mexicans as they need one for the U.S

What ancient pyramids are located in Mexico? what are the names of all the pyramids?

i am doing a spanich project and need to know all the pyramids located in mexico. i woul like to know names so i can research about them.

As a mexican that has visited several pyramids in the past, I’d suggest you to separate the pyramids by which culture built them and by geographic region because there’s so many of them.

Mexico City alone still conserves about 8 or 9 pyramids counting in Teotihuacan (remmeber that current Mexico City was a city named Tenochtitlán which had a lot of pyramids but the Aztecs themselves destroyed their own city, so very few pyramids still remain to this day, most of them buried underground somewhere.

Teotihuacan and the Templo Mayor aren’t the only 2 pyramids in Mexico City. There’s one in the mount Tizayuca in Tlalnepantla State of Mexico (I haven’t visited it yet though), another one which has this strange round shape somewhere in the delegación Tlalpan. I just can’t remember the pyramid’s name right now. There’s also a pyramids in the plaza de las culturas in Tlatelolco which I haven’t visited yet either. Ugh.. I really need to tour my own city a bit more.

Teotihuacan isn’t an Aztec pyramid BTW, historians still aren’t really sure who built them but that they abandoned the city before the Aztecs came. Some of the remaining pyramids in Mexico City aren’t Aztec either since there was a huge gamma of small indian tribes surrounding the original city, but for simplification you could say they were all Aztec, your teacher probably won’t notice.

There’s a nice pyramid in the city of Tula, Hidalgo, I believe it’s Toltec culture.

Veracruz has several pyramids.

The archeological site of Montealbán Oaxaca is very famous. I believe it’s Zapotec.

There is an Olmec archeological site in Tabasco named "La Venta", I think there’s a small pyramid in it.

Tere’s also an interesting pyramid in northen Puebla but I haven’t seen it myself yet and I don’t know who built it.

Notice that not all Mayan pyramids are located in modern-day Mexico. Some of their pyramids are in Guatemala and Belize.

It’s a little known secret that ordinary tourists don’t know, but there’s several small pyramids near the city of Toluca in the state of Mexico.

Is it possible to go to Mexico and South America by boat?

I’m planning to visit Mexico and South America and would like to avoid traveling by airplane if possible. Is there a way to go to these countries by sea? I know there are luxury cruises that go to the Caribbean. I guess I’m thinking of something a bit less frills, just a means of transportation. Haven’t found anything so far. Any tips?

There are a lot of tour boats/cruise ships that go to Mexico and South America:
An alternate way is on a freighter. A lot of freighters carry a limited number of passengers as well as cargo. You might try some of them.
another way is via a good travel agent that knows the best and cheapest. And one that will work with you to stay in your budget.
Usually over all unless you are going there to live and work a good travel agent is the best and cheapest way to go.
