Mexico’s Killing Fields

Who’s smarter?

There’s a group of Mexican "peasants" called Zapatista’s who want to change Mexico and keep their people there and employed. One of the things they are against is NAFTA and the Maquiladora’s NAFTA has brought into their country.

NAFTA has also hurt the American middle class. Virtually wiping out many manufacturing jobs here.

If these "peasants" can see this with their "limited" intelligence as their government says they have, why can’t the big wigs in government? Or are they the ones with limited intelligence? Both there and here.
Amanda…I know what you’re talking about. This is mainly to make people aware of NAFTA and the damage it’s caused here and there. Some people are under the mistaken impression the Mexican People want NAFTA. No they don’t. It doesn’t benefit them as some assume. The Zapatista’s have often spoken out against NAFTA and disappeared or been imprisoned for doing so. This is more a financial aspect question than a humanitarian one.

sounds like mexico has a militia on their hands. i knew some of the citizens in mexico was against NAFTA. there are canadian citizens who are against NAFTA. it’s all about money, they , the leaders are only thinking of their pocket. NAFTA consist of the united states president, the mexican presidant and the canadian president. all 3 are jack azzes.

AP Human Geography Exam help ?

The AP Human Geography Exam is Friday .. I’ve paid attention pretty much all year and average about 70/80 on my exams. Ace my vocab exams no problem - I know the terms pretty much forwards and backwards. I just need help with applying them. Also I have huge issues with 2nd guessing myself.
Scared soo bad for the FRQ, we’ve only practiced 2 in class and I’ve gotten like a 6/8 on them? But honestly I have no idea what material they’ll be on. The 2 we did in class included one about Maquiladoras and another about Businesses locating further south etc.

Any tips/advice especially from those in my situation or that have taken the exam before would be greatly appreciated :):)

Yeah, I have it Friday too…
Here’s a website that has old Ap exams and stuff you should know for the exam.

Who will win the grand prize? Only time will tell…

2b Charlemagne Latin: Carolus Magnus, meaning Charles the Great; numbered Charles I of France and the Holy Roman Empire) (742/747 – 28 January 814) was King of the Franks from 768 to his death. He expanded the Frankish kingdoms into a Frankish Empire that incorporated much of Western and Central Europe
6 Tang is a sugared, fruit-flavored, non-carbonated soft drink from the USA. The original orange flavored Tang was formulated by General Foods Corporation in 1957 and first marketed (in powdered form) in 1959. It was initially intended as a breakfast drink, but sales were poor until NASA began using it on Gemini flights in 1965, and that use was heavily advertised. Since that time, it has been associated with the U.S. manned spaceflight program

Does this look like it helped or did it cause more illegal immigration?

http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0425-30.htm
With US firms unwilling to pay even minimal taxes, NAFTA has hardly produced the promised uplift in the lives of Mexicans. Ciudad Juarez Mayor Gustavo Elizondo, whose city is crammed with US-owned low-wage plants, expressed it plainly: "We have no way to provide water, sewage, and sanitation workers. Every year, we get poorer and poorer even though we create more and more wealth."

Falling industrial wages, peasants forced off the land, small businesses liquidated, growing poverty: these are direct consequences of NAFTA. This harsh suffering explains why so many desperate Mexicans — lured to the border area in the false hope that they could find dignity in the US-owned maquiladoras — are willing to risk their lives to cross the border to provide for their families. There were 2.5 million Mexican illegals in 1995; 8 million have crossed the border since then. In 2005, some 400 desperate Mexicans died trying to enter the US.

United States economic policies have been a hindrance to Mexico’s economy for decades, with the passage of NAFTA the United States is illegally dumping American subsidized corn on the Mexican market, and destroyed the life of millions of small farmers. Now Americans complaints because those displaced people are looking for work in the U.S. . I think that is poetic justice.

Spanish speakers, please help ? (: Thanks?

Finalmente under NAFTA maquiladora empleo went up cincuenta (50) percentaje en Ciudad Juarez y una grande population.
NAFTA ayudan los condiciones pero mas should be done, y la pagas should be higher. Dando una opurtunidad para gentes does not mean torturing them.
Por favor ayude?

I know I made a lot of grammar mistakes, and hopefully can learn. So can someone please help me edit this? I’m stuck, but I tried, and some I dind’t know in Spanish, i just put in English. Thanks.

A pesar ….
