Mexico’s Killing Fields

Add flax seed meal with a little imagination.

Flax seed meal is potentially such a wonder seed; containing everything from fibre to vitamins & minerals, essential fatty acids to lignans etc. It is advisable not to heat the flax seed meal too much because it can cause the essential oils to go rancid and hence unusable by our bodies (although it is reported that adding it to the ingredients of breads and muffins before cooking is OK) so how can you add flax seed meal to your diet. Well normally advice is to sprinkle it on to cereals and salads etc but the same old ways might get boring after a while. You could try adding it to the ingredients the next time you do a smoothie or you next shake. Added to everything else it will bring a nice nutty flavour.

Making Wine

Making wine is one of my favorite hobbies. That is right, I said hobbies. You see I do not have a fancy vineyard or any expensive equipment to help me make wine. Everything I cook up is homemade straight from my kitchen. Honestly you do not need any crazy equipment or a fully stocked winery to make some pretty decent wine. Sure you will need some practice to perfect the art of home wine making, but isn’t that true for everything? It really is not very hard … you boil some stuff, you mix some stuff, you cap it and wait for it to ferment for a couple of weeks (or more) … that pretty much sums up the whole process. Wine Making - Expensive and Cheap

I read an article a few months back talking about the difference between expensive wines and cheaper wines. The article claimed that studies have indicated that most people cannot tell one from another. In the study they gave people the expensive wine and did not tell them it was a $200+ bottle of wine. Later they gave them the same wine again and told them the price tag of it (the people had no idea they were rating the same bottle twice). When they knew the wine was expensive they gave it much higher marks as opposed to when they had no idea about the value of it. Wine Making Supplies

Wine Clubs Are Great

What can I tell you about wine clubs? First and foremost I should tell you that if you love wine the way I do a wine club membership is a must have. Seriously the benefits of joining a club far outstrip the slight inconvenience of having another monthly bill. You see when you go to a wine store (or regular grocery store for that matter) you are often left with the daunting task of trying to figure out what wine you should buy. Normally you will know next to nothing about the wines on display so you are kind of going in blind. With a wine club membership you always have an expert making the selection for you. Some of the best wine in the world …

1. Here is one question I get asked far too often: What is your favorite kind of wine and where in the world does the best wine come from? Okay that was kind of two questions, but whatever … As to the first part of that question all I can really say is that my favorite wine is one that is well balanced. Not too sweet, not too acidic, not too many tannis, etc. Personally I think balance is what sets a good wine apart from bad. As to the second part of that question, well it is impossible to answer. I mean great wine can be found all over the world. I really do not think there is any “best” place for wine … far too subjective of a question. California Wine Club

I Love Home Made Wine

Making wine at home can be a lot of fun. Personally I have found this to be a very enriching hobby that allows me to get my creative juices flowing (no pun intended!). What I mean by this is that you can take a basic wine recipe … for example a recipe to make lemon wine and spruce it. You can add your own twists to the wine that really makes it stand out as your own personal home made wine and not a copy cat of someone else. Also when you pull out a bottle of wine to drink with your friends that you have made it is a real conversation starter. Wine Making Supplies

Home Wine Making

Making wine at home is not only possible, it is actually fairly easy. You do not need to be a rocket science to make a pretty good brew. All you need is the right equipment. For example you will have to get your hands on a 5 gallon jug, an air tight lid for the jug, some yeast and other additives … but most importantly you need to source some really good fruit. Try a you pick farm near your home, they are the best fruit source for home wine making.
