Mexico’s Killing Fields
What are the rules of renting property in Mexico?
Specifically in Cuernavaca:
- Do you need someone who owns property to co-sign on the contract?
- Can landlords evict you for no reason?
- Are there any excessive noise rules that the tenants and landlords have to abide by?
usually ur asked 4:
-someone who owns property in mexico (in the same place u wanna rent) subject 2 no mortgages
-2 moths of rent as a deposit
As ur not mexican they will mayb ask u 4 a higher deposit or 2 leave an open voucher
The contract establishes the reasons and cases in which they can evict u and the rules abt the noise r subject 2 the buildings rules and the Ley de Condominos
And dont believe tht the landlords r like mafia capos as ppl above seem 2 think….if u give no reason 4 problems, ull have any

Is Cuernavaca a good place to visit?
yes, it’s nice. it’s also pretty close to DF, so you could go there as well. there are many language schools too, if you want to take some classes

Has anyone ever been to La Estacion in Cuernavaca, Mexico?
The club or the neighborhood
La estacion used to be a train station in cuernavaca just in the corner where Av. Plan de Ayala becomes Vicente Guerrero, the actual station was a few meters forward in the direction of Reforma, just behind a bunch of tall trees,
the neighborhood is a poor one where people lived in old train wagons.
The station it self its a typical train station of the 19th century

Why do many old americans, go to live to Mexico (Jalisco, Cuernavaca etc.?
The above answer has it right. They get to go live in a warm climate like many of them seem to enjoy but there money goes a lot farther in Mexico then it does in places like Florida.

Wondering about travel to Cuernavaca, Mexico?
My University is holding a learning class for 3 weeks to Mexico, I would really like to attend. It wil be a cultural learning experience
I’m noided, because they have been acting buck wild over there lately killing people……do you think its safe to travel in 2009 July??
Will they provide protection for the group?
Good luck with those psycho drug cartels shooting everyone up including police officers. Hell I hear some of them have better weapons than the police officers. I wouldnt go, but if you really want to go you should inquire about security. Ask your teacher about it. I used to want to go vacation in Mexico, but now I dont want to go anymore thats one country Im not going near. Its too bad because they have some really great vacation spots.
Im all about people learning and immersing themselves in other cultures, just ask your teacher I dont want to discourage you from going.

Can American families with modest means, move to the Cuernavaca area to live?
I lived in Mexico for 10 years and returned to the US in ‘92, but still know people down there. We, too, are thinking of retiring to Mexico, but not back to San Miguel de Allende, which is quite expensive these days.
The State of Morelos, which includes Cuernavaca, is very desirable, pretty, well located for travel, etc. and I can’t think of any reason not to move there. As far as real estate, purchase or rental, Morelos won’t be as inexpensive as many other states.
I’m adding some real estate links below so you can sample housing. The ones in Spanish have a language converter (I think). They’re all for Morelos.
I have sites for many other parts of Mexico and some Central American countries, all of which have become incredibly popular with Americans.
Feel free to send me a email if you wnat some links for other real estate markets south of the border.
Buena suerte.
