How long will it take Chihuahua puppies to open their eyes and walking around?

Ok my Chihuahua just have puppies and we are wondering when the eyes will open and walking around.

Ahh bless - little weeny ones - lovely! Congratulations firstly, how proud are you ha ha? Their eyes will start to open in about 7 - 10 days, maybe longer as they’re all different. The eyes will start to open from the inner side first, near the nose so they’ll look a bit strange until the eye is fully open. All pup’s eyes are dark blue when they first open and its so attractive you want them to stay that way ha ha but they change again in a few months! Their ears are closed as well so they’re deaf for the moment - they open around the same time as the eyes so all your cooing etc has gone to waste ha ha. They’ll find their feet when they’re around ten - twelve days, you’ll notice that they can move around a little more quickly and once they really find their feet there’ll be no stopping them ha ha, that’ll happen at around two and half weeks - by three weeks you’ll be tearing your hair out - you’ll wake up and the little souls will be all over the place crying for mum to bring them back ha ha, its a really lovely time for all involved, enjoy it because it passes far too quickly! Best of luck with everything, congratulations again, new life is so lovely.

How old should a male chihuahua be to get fixed?

Hi,
I have a 5 month old male chihuahua. I was wondering how old should a male dog be to get fixed/sprayed. Our new vet is very expensive so I was wondering the average price it would cost for the puppy to get fixed too.

Most vets say between 4-6 months but honestly you can get it done earlier. The humane society gets their puppies spayed and neutered at two months. So yes, most people say 4-6 months. Now is the time to do it. Price just depends on each vet. Expect maybe $100-200. Call your vet and ask.

Where can i find a chihuahua puppy for sale in the pittsburgh pa area?

I have looked in the local newspaper with no luck. I have a year old Spayed female chihuahua and she is wonderful and I want another. Please heip me find one in Pittsburgh PA. I donot like to drive far. Thank You .

Whatever you do, DO NOT get them from a pet store!! They get their dogs from Puppymills and it’s just horrible. They get sick and have behavioral issues from improper socialization and being taken from their mothers too soon. They can be harder to potty-train because they’ve always been allowed to go anywhere they want. The conditions in a puppymill are disgusting. Our dog is a puppymill rescue. She was only in one for a year and we’ve had her for 3 years. It was just this last year that she’s gained the confidence to play with another dog and to enjoy being petted.

"DO NOT, under any circumstances, buy a dog in a petstore. Our research establishes that 98% of the dogs in petstores come from what we consider to be puppymllls. You are not saving that puppy, you are sentencing it’s parents to lives of misery."

Look at the sites below for a more humane and local Chihuahua "buying" solution…

What will happen to my chihuahua if water got into her ears?

My dad accidentally got water in Missy’s ears(my chihuahua) and i was just wondering if anything bad would happen to her.

i wouldn’t worry too much. if its a lot of water it could result in an ear infection. just take some q-tips, cotton balls and some peroxide and clean out her ears. she should be fine.

How long is a teacup chihuahua supposed to live?

Im concerned because my teacup chihuahua is 10 years old and my sister told me the other day they only live until they are 9. Please help me.

<3
My Gwen is only 3 pounds right now, and she is almost four months old. We have plans on her living a long and very healthy life . Chihuahua’s. can range in weight from very small ( 2 and a half ) to a hefty 10 pounds . All is considered normal according to my vet. So do not worry.
Love your baby. Give him or her their regular vet visits and keep them safe and they should have have a quite normal life span of 15 to 18 years. This is an estimate. Some have been lucky enough to live longer in our lives some are just passing angels as are all animals.
Many blessings to you and yours.

How do i get my chihuahua to stop attacking me?

When my chihuahua is with my dad she becomes extremly violent attacking anyone that comes near her. She only started to do this a few months ago.

Is it possible to get her to be nice again.

I had the same problem. My chi was a sweet as could be, but then at times she’d turn wicked in an instant and attack me. The trick to extinguishing this behavior is to make her know that you are the boss, not her. Begin by pinning her down on her back and gently holding her down for a few seconds. If she resists, just keep her pinned down until she relaxes. Do this once or twice a day. The next time she attacks you, immediately flip her and pin her down in the same manner, but on her side. Keep one hand/thumb near her head to prevent her from biting you. Tell her a very firm "NO!". Keep her pinned until she relaxes. A trainer suggested this method to me and it has worked. As the trainer said, "you have to make the dog think you are capable of killing it", not that we ever would, but the dog has to have that fear/respect of you. Be firm and consistent. It may take time. Good luck!

How can I get my chihuahua used to a walking leash?

My chihuahua is absolutely terrified of leashes for some reason. When I latch it on, he freezes in place and trembles nonstop. When I take it off, he runs away and hides like if I’m torturing him! How can I get him used to it? Just the sight of the leash makes him run away.

Clip the leash on him & let him drag it in the house. He may shake & be upset to start. Just ignore that behavior. When he settles some. Take a hold of the leash & call him to you for treats. Take a hold of the leash & call him to you to get pet. Take him on leash to his dinner bowl. Won’t take long for him to associate the leash with good things. Then you can progress to taking him outside with the leash on. At first, just like a puppy, you follow him where he wants to go & sniff. Then you encourage him to walk along with you for treats & praise. Don’t carry this guy around. Anywhere he wants to go, he goes on leash & walking. Soon he’ll be begging you to put that leash on so he can do fun stuff.
