Mexico’s Killing Fields
Can Someone Please Translate This Spanish Song?
I love this song but only partially understand what it means. Can someone please translate? I’ve tried online translators and they don’t make much sense. Here’s the song:
La Nina by Lila Downs
The Daughter of Your Eyes (la nina de tus ojos)
You saw me when no one else saw me.
You loved me when no one else loved me.(x2)
You gave me a name. I am your daughter.
The daugher of your eyes,
Because you loved me (x2)
(After doing that section twice, repeat "Because you loved me" over and over)
Chorus:
I love you more than my life (x3)

What will happen to my chihuahua if water got into her ears?
My dad accidentally got water in Missy’s ears(my chihuahua) and i was just wondering if anything bad would happen to her.
i wouldn’t worry too much. if its a lot of water it could result in an ear infection. just take some q-tips, cotton balls and some peroxide and clean out her ears. she should be fine.

What does unfurnished apartment mean in Mexico City?
I am moving to Condesa, Mexico City and was planning on bringing my washer/dryer/refrigerator (company pays shipping) since I heard that an unfurnished apartment here means no appliances. Is this correct? Is it a good idea to bring your own appliances? Also are the dryers there usually electric or gas?
Yes. Unfurnished apartment means no appliances.
If the company pays shipping and u like your fridge and wants to save some cash, then i recommend you to bring them to Mex City…
Otherwise, u have the option to buy your furniture over here. (Lots of stores offering high class appliances).
We have both, electric and gas dryers.

How do you insure your safety when traveling to Mexico?
I am planning a trip to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, and I want to leave the resort at least once to check out the town. How can I insure my safety, considering that there are kidnappings in Mexico?
Hi Kingfish, I’m sorry to see that only clowns have answered up until now. It’s good to see that you’re concerned for your safety, but rest assured that things aren’t as bad as the media paints the situation. Remember that they’re trying to sell newspapers and airtime, and nothing sells like a little bit of sensationalism.
A city like Puerto Vallarta is a very friendly city that thrives on tourism. It is also, as a matter of fact, one of the safest big cities in Mexico (by big I mean 200k+ pop).
Are there kidnappings in Mexico, yes, are there kidnappings everywhere else in the world, yes as well. The problem with kidnappings in Mexico that you are referring to are of the following nature: drug cartels get in a fight, and they kidnap/pick up a guy from another cartel that can give them intel and then they kill that person.
The other nature of kidnappings are ones were innocent people in fact do get kidnapped which is where kidnapping rings look for people who have a routine, get to know their routine, and then nab this person who can pay the randsom that is asked for. These rings are usually present where drug cartels are present. This is the case because many times they are the same people, or know the same people and therefore are located in the same place as the drug cartels. This means that the border areas are the more dangerous parts. But you’re going to be in Puerto Vallarta. One thing has nothing to do with the other. Not only do you not have a routine and hence predictability in the city you’re going to, nobody knows if you have any money. I would just exercise common sense, and if you’re walking into an establishment with people that would look shady in the US, then don’t go into that place in Mexico, either.
A different point of view:
Consider being scared about visiting omaha, nebraska because you’ve heard about how bad the terrorism in the US. Terrorism, terrorism, red alert, orange alert, al quaeda, taliban bla bla bla…All this talk, all this action, homeland security, and nothing has happenned on American soil for seven years, albeit the last time was TERRIBLE, but nonetheless the story the government sells the public isn’t reality, terrorists cells aren’t living next door to you, and taking more than 3 fl. oz doesn’t mean you’re preventing bombs on airplanes, etc etc. But fear mongers have made a ton of money, just like members of the media make money off of selling you fear in Mexico.
Don’t fall for their gimics, don’t fall for the troubles. Think the problem thru a little bit and you’ll realize there’s no reason to be fearful. Cautious? Yeah, go for it, be cautious. Like in any city you don’t know anything about, go in pairs or groups, stay in well lit areas, and hang around where you see other people that speak english, etc. Know where you’re at in the city, take a map with you from the hotel gift shop, take a hotel business card so that you have the hotel’s phone number etc etc, all these are good preventative measures. Just don’t fall for the BS on tv though. I hope this helps, if it does, I’d apreciate the ten points, thanks!

Is November good enough to travel thru Madagascar or is the rain going to spoil my vacation?
I would like to travel to Madagascar in November until mid December (6 weeks). But I keep reading that it is rainy season during that time. Unfortunately that’s the only time when my boss let’s me go on holiday. Is it still good enough to travel thru Madagascar when it is rainy season or will it be too stressy and difficult to travel around?
Most rain here falls between November and March, much of it in heavy downpours with hail and thunder. Rainfall during the rest of the year is mostly very light and sporadic. On the plateau temperatures fall to moderate levels during the dry season and the nights may be chilly, but frost only occurs on the highest mountains.
For climatic reasons tourists prefer the inter-season (April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November - December)
FOR YOUR INFO
last year during Nov there were 28,511 international tourists in Madagascar compared to 16,089 in Feb,
During October 32,364
October seems to be the favorite.
But Nov is in the very first part of "winter" season.
ENJOY

How can I travel through metro in London from Heathrow airport to Perivale?
How can I travel through metro in London from Heathrow airport to Perivale? I am going to London for the first time and have no idea about it. I would be highly obliged if someone can explain me in detail.
There is no direct tube train from Heathrow to Perivale, You’re best off getting a bus and then a train, far more direct and a lot faster.
Head to Heathrow Central Bus Station. (this is well signposted from all terminals)
Catch the no. 140 bus from stop 19 and get off at Northolt Underground Station. (takes about 45 minutes)
At Northolt get on a Central Line train towards Epping.
Get off at Perivale.
The whole journey should take about an hour.
The following site has a journey planner for all of the London Transport network in case you want to look at other options. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/
